Appreneur Rules, Conditions and Application

  • You must submit your Appreneur entry on or before November 30, 2015.
  • • Entries must be a working application running on any of the current mobile apps devices including iOS, Android, Windows 8, as well as smartwatches, wrist wear, Google Glass and other emerging platforms
  • App must be created by a high school student or an undergraduate/ graduate student who is actively enrolled in college courses
  • Appreneur site visitors will get to share comments about the apps and vote on their favorite.
  • An online vote, will affect, but not necessarily determine, the winners. (Judges will have the final word; online votes will be checked for errors and/or duplications.)
  • Two winners will be selected and will present at the Mobile Apps Showdown live event on January 8, 2015 at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Winners who are minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to attend the Mobile Apps Showdown event.
  • Press coverage will be recorded on-site and will remain online during 2016.

You must be a high school or college student. If you are under 18 and are selected as a winner, a parent or legal guardian must attend the awards ceremony with you at CES in Las Vegas.
YES!  We understand that sometimes app building takes a team. If the group wins travel expenses will only be paid for one representative to attend CES in Las Vegas. Also, the $5,000 scholarship will have to be split by the group.

Winners will be announced on the website by December 15, 2015 and the scholarship awards will be presented during the Mobile Apps Showdown on January 8, 2016 at the International CES in Las Vegas.
The apps will be judged on 5 criteria: 1) Impact: What is the impact made in this apps’ particular marketplace or target market? 2) Scalability: What sort of market potential does this app have? 3) Originality: Is this app unique and creative? 4) User Interface: Is this app easy to use, simple and straightforward? 5) Retention: How likely is this app to keep its users engaged over time?
A panel of judges represented the education and technology sectors.
There will be 2 winners.
You will be recognized at the Mobile Apps Showdown on January 8, 2016 at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas but will receive your actual scholarship award of $5,000 the week after the show.
