How congenital scoliosis is usually diagnosed?
Hemivertebra refers to a condition in which the bone on one side of the spine-bone is missing on one side of the spine shape, whereas the corresponding bone on the other side is not. A unilateral bar occurs when some vertebrae stuck or fused together on one side of the spine. The second example describes several ways in which the spine may not develop properly.
This condition is rarely diagnosed at birth except for very large curves, or unless an x-ray is done for another reason. Congenital scoliosis is most often found in childhood or adolescence (during puberty) when growth is very rapid. Congenital curve is often worse.
Approximately 75% of the time, the curve will deteriorate to the point of needing treatment; some curves remain mild and require no treatment other than careful observation.
What is the treatment for congenital scoliosis?
In idiopathic scoliosis (scoliosis which no cause is found) amplifies often used to stop the progression of the curve.
This is because it strengthens the backbone on the outside of the body cannot help spinal deformity only on one side. Therefore, the treatment which lasts curve generally requires surgery.
